A five row graduating natural pearls necklace with a blue enamel, ivory and diamond set centre piece, the kite shape centre piece with blue enamel decoration, mounted with ivory carving of the trophy of love, a cupid’s bow and arrows, a hymeneal torch (named after Hymen, the Greek goddess of marriage), forming a diagonal composition suspended by a ribbon and ivy leaves that represent eternity, all under glass, surrounded by a fine old-cut diamond border suspending a pearl drop, all suspended by a diamond-set ribbon bow within cut-down silver setting to a gold mount, to five rows of natural pearls, with four yellow gold bars and a half-pearl-set yellow gold clasp, circa 1790s.
