A LATE VICTORIAN GARNET AND DIAMOND BEE BROOCH
A late Victorian garnet and diamond brooch, in the form of a large bee having a tapered oval cabochon-cut garnet measuring approximately 23 x 15½mm and diamond cluster body, the central old-cut diamond estimated to weigh 0.7 carats set within a border of ten old-cut diamonds, between rose diamond encrusted veined wings, all silver set to a yellow gold mount with oval glazed locket compartment to the back, with detachable brooch and rose diamond set pendant loop, measuring approximately 4cm, gross weight 19.8 grams, circa 1890.
