A Victorian yellow gold and garnet snake necklet, the head set with a cabochon garnet with rose-cut diamond eyes, the side of the head decorated with scroll engravings, a heart-shaped cabochon ruby locket dropping from the serpents open mouth, the head loosely entangled by a writhing yellow gold tail, yellow gold plates form the graduated necklet in the design of a snake's body, the clasp attached to the head, all stones set to closed back yellow gold mounts, gross weight 29.6 grams, circa 1840
