A French Belle Epoque paste star brooch

Description

A French Belle Epoque paste star brooch, to the centre a round faceted paste, encircled by a frame, to a twelve-ray star surrounding, with twelve knife-edge bars in between each, all set with small faceted paste in silver mount, bearing French silver marks, circa 1890, measuring approximately 5.5 x 5.7cm, gross weight 23.80 grams. ARV.
By repute a gift from Queen Victoria to one of her ladies in waiting who bequeathed to her son, a confirmed bachelor and balletomane, who gave it to Irina Baranova between 1937 and 1939, then by family decent to B&S
