A wonderful brooch by Giuliano. Carlo Giuliano was known for his intricate renaissance-revival jewellery, which featured fine enamel work and gem-set decorations. Examples of his jewellery are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and others. This brooch features a fine enamelled openwork frame set with scroll motifs. In the centre of the openwork design are three stones: a crimson ruby, a dazzling diamond, and a royal blue sapphire. The enamel work surrounding the stones is in Giuliano’s signature black and white design. This brooch is a good example of Giuliano’s style and craftsmanship.
