A Diamond Bow Brooch Attributed To Fabergé

Description

A Fabergé diamond bow brooch, unsigned, the central brilliant-cut diamond with the bow of pierced platinum work in cross designs set with rose-cut diamonds all millegrain set in platinum on a gold frame, with detachable brooch fitting, St Petersburg circa 1913, compare with similar August Holmstrom brooch illustrated in “Fabergé: Lost and Found” by Kenneth Snowman page 149 and Illustrated in “Jewelry For Gentlemen” by James Sherwood, page 20.

This exquisite diamond bow brooch was made by Fabergé. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and best-known jewellery house. The house has become known for their royal commissions and their close ties to the family of Tsar Nicholas II. This magnificent piece features a central brilliant cut diamond that scintillates wonderfully, forming the tie of the bow. The loops of the bow are designed with pierced, openwork platinum work in a geometric design set throughout with glinting rose-cut diamonds. This important piece is an excellent example of Fabergé design and craftsmanship c.1913.
