A charming enamel brooch, made in 1903. This piece features a couple dancing, wrought in delicate hand-enamel. The woman wears a classically Edwardian ballgown while the gentleman wears scarlet tails. The engraving on this brooch reads ‘Pytchley Ball 1903’, referencing the fact that this brooch was most likely a souvenir from the 1903 ball of the Pytchley Hunt. The Pytchley Club was established in 1750 and has hosted Hunts since. A wonderfully detailed brooch.
