A wonderfully charming Victorian turtle scatter pin brooch, made in around 1860. This piece features two delicate turtles, their shells embellished with pearls and bright turquoise stones and their eyes set with rubies. The turtles are connected by a chain to a central pin, which has an additional cabochon-cut turquoise set into it. Turquoise became popular in the mid-Victorian era, especially when paired with yellow gold. This lovely piece would add Victorian whimsy to a buttoned shirt.
