A Victorian Holbeinesque pendant, set to the centre with an oval cabochon-cut garnet, measuring approximately 14.9×19.1 mm, embellished with three rose-cut diamonds and a pearl on each side, all surrounded by a blue, red, green enamel and gold hornate frame with engraved back and glass locket, with pear-shaped pearl drop and red and green enamel round pendant loop, circa 1860, measuring approximately 5.9 x 3.2cm, gross weight 17.33 grams.

A gorgeous Victorian Holbeinesque pendant. Holbeinesque is a term used to describe Victorian jewellery that was made in the style of the Renaissance, particularly inspired by the Northern Renaissance and the paintings of Hans Holbein. Holbein produced sketches of the jewellery worn at the Tudor court, and the sketches were used as reference points by Victorian jewellery designers and craftsmen. This pendant features a glowing oval cabochon garnet at the centre, surrounded by an intricate frame of yellow gold, coloured enamel, diamonds, and pearls. The enamel is in shades of royal blue, emerald green, and crimson red, and provides a luxurious and regal contrast to both the yellow gold and the garnet. The diamonds and pearls add sparkle and lustre to this piece, which would look beautiful worn on a thick Victorian chain.
