An Art Nouveau enamel, emerald and diamond pendant, the pendant designed as a winged nymph framed by floral motifs, applied with pearlescent and plique-à-jour enamel, suspending a polished emerald, accented with circular-, single-cut and rose diamonds, to a fine link chain, length approximately 435mm, signed Masriera Y Carrera, indistinct Spanish assay mark, circa 1915, gross weight 36.86 grams.

An exquisite Art Nouveau pendant. This pendant was made by Masriera Y Carrera, the Spanish jewellery firm that produced many fine examples of Art Nouveau jewellery. Based in Barcelona, where the style of Art Nouveau thrived through the architecture of Gaudi and others, Masriera Y Carrera produced many fine pieces of jewellery. This pendant features the image of a winged nymph modelled from gold, the wings decorated with plique-a-jour enamel that is wonderfully translucent. The nymph rests on a frame of glittering diamonds set with detailed yellow gold flowers, each set with a lively diamond. Suspended from the foot of the nymph is a single emerald, the green hue of which provides a beautiful complement to the naturalistic details in this piece.
