An Edwardian diamond cross pendant, the openwork Latin cross millegrain-set throughout with graduated old European-cut diamonds, seven diamonds individually framed in square collets that articulate the central axis and the mid-points of each arm and estimated to weigh 1.2 carats in total; the terminals formed as trefoil scrolls, all open-back mounted in platinum with a knife-edge gallery, suspended from a tapering diamond-set bale on a fine trace-link chain; all diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 5.00 carats, assessed mounted as G–H colour and VS1–SI1 clarity, circa 1915, later hallmarked platinum 950, bearing the Bentley & Skinner sponsor mark, measuring approximately 6.2 x 4cm (including bale), gross weight 13.4 grams.

This piece features fine openwork platinum, a material which became popular in the early twentieth century for its strength and ability to form intricate and delicate shapes.
