An Edwardian amethyst and pearl dragonfly brooch, the thorax and the body each set with a pear-shaped faceted amethyst, measuring approximately 8x5mm and 10x7mm, the eyes and wings set with round half pearls, graduating from 2 to 0.8 mm in diameter, all set in yellow gold mount with realistically carved legs and rose gold pin brooch fitting, marked 15ct, circa 1900, measuring 5.5×2.4cm, gross weight 7.5 grams.

This delightful brooch was made at the turn of the twentieth century and is in the form of a detailed and colourful dragonfly. The thorax and abdomen of the insect are set with vivid faceted amethyst stones. The wings and legs are crafted from yellow gold set with lustrous seed pearls, both which provide a beautiful and bright contrast to the amethyst. This pretty piece would look lovely pinned to a floral dress.
