More informationAn Edwardian star-sapphire and diamond drop pendant, consisting of an oval star-sapphire estimated to weigh 9.5 carats, millegrain-set in yellow gold collet, surrounded by rose-cut diamond-set openwork surround of laurel design with bow and ribbon decorations made in platinum, suspending a larger oval-cut star sapphire estimated to weigh 24 carats, the sapphires accompanied by GCS Report 77109-78 stating to be of Sri-Lankan origin with no indication of heat, all suspended by fine platinum trace-link chain, circa 1905, the pendant measuring approximately 1.8cm, gross weight 15.4 grams.
This elegant Belle Epoque pendant features two impressive cabochon cut star sapphires. Star sapphires have an almost magical quality to them: when the light bounces off them, a bright white star is reflected. This pendant exemplifies Edwardian taste. Diamond set platinum scroll and ribbon motifs surround the two wonderful sapphires, adding delicate details to the enchanting stones. This pendant is suspended from a platinum chain and would look stunning worn with a plunging-neckline evening gown.
