More informationA French Art Deco diamond and carved emerald brooch in the form of a stylised bay tree, comprising openwork diamond set foliage, claw-set carved emerald flowers, a black enamel stem and an openwork planter set with brilliant and baguette cut diamonds and black enamel, mounted in platinum, with gold pin fitting, bearing French hallmarks, circa 1920, 5cm x 2cm, gross weight 8.8 grams, illustrated in “Jewelry For Gentlemen” by James Sherwood, page 201.
A find Art Deco brooch, made in around 1920. This brooch is in the form of a bay tree, with wonderful detail including the pot holding the tree as well as the growing foliage. The base of the tree features an openwork platinum pot set with diamonds and black onyx. The tree branch is curved black onyx, and the leaves are delicately set with further glittering diamonds. Throughout the bay tree are wonderful, carved emerald flowers which have a bright and lush green hue. This handsome and unique piece encapsulates the period perfectly.
