More informationA French Art Deco crystal, diamond and onyx brooch by Chaumet, consisting of an octagonal-shaped frosted rock crystal frame, mounted between two finials of palmette design, with diamond-set scroll Mughal style decorations, accented by a line of cabochon-cut onyx, the diamonds estimated to weigh 5 carats in total, mounted in platinum and gold, bearing French assay marks and partial maker’s mark of Chaumet, circa 1925, measuring approximately 7.1 x 2.5cm, gross weight 19.3 grams.
A wonderful Art Deco brooch made Chaumet. The jewellery house of Chaumet dates back to the eighteenth century and is known for making jewellery for the French royal court and for Josephine Bonaparte. This spectacular brooch reflects the Art Deco period of Chaumet, which reflected an increase in geometric styles inspired by machine technology. This brooch features a frosted rock crustal frame which has on each side a sparkling openwork platinum and gold palmette decorations. The palmettes are set with diamonds and black onyx, adding stunning detail to this piece.
