Description

A late Victorian gem-set dragonfly brooch, the thorax set with an oval cabochon-cut opal measuring 6.3×4.8 mm, the tail set with seven rectangular step-cut demantoid garnets graduating in size, wings embellished with seed pearls, to cabochon ruby-set eyes and realistically carved legs, all rubover-set in yellow gold mount, with gold brooch, circa 1900, measuring 3.4×3.8cm. gross weight 4.3 grams.
