Description

A late Victorian sapphire and diamond turtle brooch/pendant, the shell set with eighteen round faceted sapphires estimated to weigh a total of 2½ carats, within a border of old-cut diamonds further estimated to weigh a total of 0.70 carats, the legs, tail and head embellished with rose-cut diamonds and cabochon ruby-set eyes, all grain-set in platinum and gold, with glass compartment to reverse, to brooch fitting and foldable pendant loop, circa 1900, measuring approximately 3.3 x 1.6 cm, gross weight 10 grams.
