Description

An Austro-Hungarian ruby and diamond butterfly brooch, the head set with a cushion shaped faceted ruby estimated to weigh 0.2 carats, the body, the eyes, the tail and the flexible wings embellished with rose-cut diamonds estimated to weigh ½ carat in total, all set in silver, with yellow gold back, and gold pin fittings with spring mechanism, circa 1890, bearing Austro-Hungarian marks for 14ct gold, Vienna, 1872-1922, measuring 2.3×2.1cm, gross weight 4.2 grams.
