Description

A Victorian sapphire and diamond bee brooch, the thorax set with a cushion-shaped diamond weighing approximately ½ carat, the abdomen with two rows set with five cushion-shaped faceted sapphires estimated to weigh ¾ carat in total, and two rows set with rose-cut diamonds, the head and wings also embellished with rose-cut diamonds, and the eyes set with cabochon-cut rubies, the diamonds estimated to weigh 1½ carats in total, all mounted in silver with yellow gold back and gold brooch fitting, circ 1890, measuring 2.8×4.1cm, gross weight 6.8 grams.
