More informationA pair of Edwardian natural pearl and diamond drop earrings, each earring comprising a natural pearl drop, accompanied by GCS report number 5776-5788, stating that the two pearls measure 7.6 – 7.7 x 9.2mm and 7.4 – 7.6 x 9.3mm and are natural saltwater, to the centre of a kite-shape openwork rose-cut and old-cut diamond-set surround, from a run of old-cut diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of 1.1 carats for both earrings, all set in silver to a yellow gold back, to a post and scroll fitting, circa 1900, the earrings measuring approximately 4.1 x 1.8cm each, gross weight 5.9 grams.
These lovely pearl and diamond earrings are a classic example of Edwardian era jewellery. The pairing of the natural pearl with a simple kite-shape diamond surround is typical of the ‘white’ theme of the period and together they lend the earrings a sense of delicacy and femininity.
