A wonderful pair of Etruscan Revival earrings. During the nineteenth century, new archaeological discoveries started a craze across Europe for jewellery made in the style of the ancient world. These earrings are a perfect example of this revivalist style, featuring dropped amphoras, wirework decorations, and the face of medusa. Victorian craftsmen challenged themselves to use techniques used in the ancient world, such as intricate wirework, and these earrings are a good reflection of this craftsmanship. The ancient style is also strikingly modern, and these earrings would not look out of place when worn today.
