An enchanting pair of earrings. These earrings feature the mythological figure Eros, delicately wrought in 18 carat gold, holding a bow and resting on a lustrous pearl. In Greek mythology Eros was the god of love, one of the children of Aphrodite and Ares. He is mostly represented with a bow and a few arrows, and it was he who lit the flame of love in the hearts of the gods and men. Once, though, he accidentally scraped himself with an arrow and that is how he fell in love with Psyche who eventually became his wife for eternity. The tip of Eros’ bow in these earrings is set with a lively diamond, which provides a beautiful complement to the yellow gold and white pearl. These charming earrings reflect the late nineteenth century interest in mythological themes.
