More informationA Fabergé hardstone, gold and enamel desk seal, the spherical handle carved of calcite, resting on a cylinder with apple-green translucent guilloche enamel with diamond pattern engraved background, the base made in rose gold with a yellow gold chased laurel leaf pattern and fluted finial, set with a round carnelian plaque, St Petersburg, 1904-1908, 56 zolotnik, bearing the initials of workmaster Henrik Wigström, inventory number 11551, measuring approximately 3.4cm in height, gross weight 17.2 grams.
A exquisite desk seal made by Fabergé. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and and best-known jewellery house. This seal is crafted from aventurine quartz, bright green enamel, and lovely, detailed gold. This piece bears the workmaster mark for Henrik Wigström, one of the most prolific and influential workmasters of Fabergé. Over one hundred pieces by Wigström are now in the Royal Collection of England, praised and treasured for their superb detail and craftsmanship.
