A late Victorian diamond-set pelican stick-pin

Description

A late Victorian diamond-set pelican stick-pin, the body encrusted with small rose-cut diamonds, with yellow gold half-open beak holding a fish, all mounted in silver and yellow gold with rose-gold pin fitting, circa 1900, measuring 1.4 x 1.1cm, the pin measuring 5.3cm long, gross weight 2.2 grams.

A late Victorian diamond-set pelican stick pin. This sweet from the Victorian period where the pelican was seen as a symbol for charity as well as self-sacrifice due to its Christian associations. This glittering stick pin would add the wonderful touch to silk tie or the lapel of a jacket.
