This lovely French brooch was made in around 1890, during the Belle Epoque period. The central eagle holds a lively diamond in its claws and is surrounded by meander or Greek key motifs as well as swags of gold culminating in a lustrous pearl. This wonderful brooch wonderfully incorporates both naturalistic and neoclassical motifs.
