An exquisite brooch made by Giuliano. Carlo Giuliano was known for his intricate renaissance-revival jewellery, which featured fine enamel work and gem-set decorations. Examples of his jewellery are in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and others. This brooch takes the shape of a highly stylized feather shape. This piece has been meticulously rendered in pierced scroll work decorated with Giuliano’s signature black and white enamel. At the centre of the upper portion of the brooch is a bright cushion-cut peridot, a stone which became popular in the late nineteenth century. Cushion-cut diamonds are set throughout this piece, adding sparkle. At the bottom of the brooch is a further cushion-cut ruby. This wonderful brooch is a fine example of Giuliano’s work.
