More informationA late nineteenth century diamond brooch, finely modelled in the form of a violin, the body encrusted with rose-cut diamonds and the strings, neck and head in rose gold, French Import mark to the brooch pin, circa 1890, measuring approximately 1.3×4.1cm, gross weight 6.2 grams.
In the mid to late nineteenth century, novelty jewellery became popular, and this finely made violin brooch reflects the trend towards novelty items.
