A Victorian garnet, half pearl and diamond brooch/pendant, the round cabochon-cut garnet weighing 9.20 carats, surrounded by a boarder of twenty old brilliant-cut diamonds, estimated to weight 1.2 carats, surrounded by eighteen half pearls, flanked by eighteen rose-cut diamonds, all to a yellow gold mount, accompanied by brooch pin fitting, pearl and diamond-set detachable loop and Brazilian snake chain, circa 1850, the pendant measuring approximately 4.1 x 2.9cm, the chain measuring approximately 42cm, gross weight 30.2 grams.
This gorgeous brooch and pendant was made in the mid-Victorian era and features a magnificent central cabochon-cut garnet. The garnet is surrounded by a frame of scintillating old-cut diamonds and a further frame of lustrous pearls. The pearls are set with twinkling rose cut diamonds that add further sparkle to this piece. This piece has a brooch pin fitting and can be worn pinned to a dress or jacket, but also has a detachable pearl and diamond set loop and can be worn on its accompanying Brazilian style gold chain for a striking high-Victorian look.
