A fine early Victorian diamond and cultured pearl necklace, the detachable centrepiece set with old-cut diamond surrounded by eight flower petals, all within ornate openwork scroll design plaque suspending an old-cut diamond drop, all encrusted with old brilliant- and rose-cut diamonds estimated to weigh 6.3 carats in total, strung on five rows of cultured saltwater pearls measuring approximately 5mm in diameter, with two early Victorian plaques equally spaced from centre, each set to the centres with an old-cut diamond surrounded by diamond-set St Catherine’s Wheel openwork design cut-down set with old-cut diamonds estimated to weigh a further total of 7 carats for the pair, all to an old-cut diamond-set bayonet clasp, all in silver to yellow gold mounts, accompanied by detachable brooch and pendant fittings for the centre-piece, gross weight 77.2 grams, circa 1840.
