A Late Victorian Pearl And Diamond Bow Brooch
A late Victorian pearl and diamond brooch, the brooch with a diamond-set ribbon bow surmount, set to the centre with a pearl and diamond cluster, the pearl measuring approximately 8 mm in diameter, dropping a natural pear-shaped pearl measuring approximately 9.6 x 7.6 mm from a V-shaped diamond run and rose-cut diamond-set foliate motif, all old brilliant-cut diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 1.60 carats, all set in silver to a yellow gold mount and brooch fitting, circa 1890, measuring approximately 42 x 31mm, gross weight 8.3 grams.
A spectacular pearl and diamond brooch. This piece features an elegant diamond-set bow with a large natural pearl at the centre. Suspended from the bow is a diamond-set ribbon which holds another beautiful and lustrous pearl. The combination of diamonds and pearls is elegant and sophisticated and emblematic of the late Victorian era, when styles began to move away from the ornate and colourful styles of earlier decades. This brooch would be an exquisite addition to a wedding dress or would look stunning pinned to an evening gown.
