An important Fabergé enamel and wooden paper knife, the wooden paperknife embellished with a blue enamel guilloche enamel handle with engraved rose gold fluted domed termination with yellow gold wreath border, gross weight 45 grams, workmaster Fedor Afanassiev, St Petersburg, 1908-1917.
A handsome enamel and wooden paper knife/letter opener by Fabergé. Fabergé was established in St Petersburg in 1842, and by the late nineteenth century, was Russia’s largest and best-known jewellery house. The house has become known for their royal commissions and their close ties to the family of Tsar Nicholas II. This piece bears signatures for workmaster Fedor Afanassiev and features a beautiful cerulean blue guilloche enamel handle. The handle is decorated with rose gold details and a yellow gold border. The knife is carved from smooth fruitwood wood, which complements the delicate handle wonderfully.
