A Belle-Epoque pearl and diamond sautoir, the sautoir comprising a long mesh chain of natural seed pearls with V-shaped diamond-set terminations, suspending a pearl and diamond double cluster drop, the silver natural half pearl measuring approximately 9.5mm in diameter, set within a pierced diamond-set triple cluster surround, suspended from three diamond-set chains with a further double cluster surmount, all set to a platinum mount, circa 1900, the pendant measuring approximately 5.9 x 2cm, the mesh-chain measuring approximately 74 x 0.7cm, gross weight 33.8 grams.
This spectacular pearl and diamond sautoir necklace was made at the turn of the twentieth century. This piece features an intricate central drop set throughout with sparkling diamonds. In the centre of the openwork platinum mount is a stunning blue and silver hued natural pearl. The central pendant is suspended from a long mesh chain made of seed pearls that catches the light beautifully. This romantic and lovely necklace would make a magnificent antique addition to an evening gown.
