A George Iii Sterling Silver Wine Funnel
A George III sterling silver wine funnel with reeded mount to the top of the bowl and circumference at the top of the spout, 2.5ozs (77gms). 5.25″ (13cms), London 1793, maker Samuel Godbehere & Edward Wigan.
A simple and fine George III silver wine funnel. Wine funnels were a necessity in the eighteenth century and could be fitted with a piece of muslin to catch natural deposits from the wine while decanting it from bottle to decanter or jug. This piece has a reeded mount and a simple thumb piece. A lovely wine funnel.
