An Edwardian Opal And Diamond Brooch/pendant

An Edwardian opal and diamond brooch, the oval cabochon-cut opal measuring approximately 14.3 x 11mm, yellow gold claw-set to the centre of an old-cut diamond cluster surround, all within a border of old-cut diamond sprays forming a quatrefoil design, all diamonds millegrain-set in silver to a yellow gold mount, with detachable brooch fitting and diamond-set pendant loop, circa 1900, measuring approximately 3.8×2.8cm, gross weight 8.7 grams.

An exquisite Edwardian brooch made in around 1900. This piece features a versatile brooch and pendant fitting, so it can be worn either on a chain or pinned to a garment. This brooch features a central opal that reflects hues of pale pink, orange, and seafoam green. Surrounding the central opal is a sculptural frame of diamond-set sprays. The lively diamonds provide an elegant complement to the central opal.
