A Victorian snake pin, the head set with a sapphire and ruby eyes, the tapering embellished tail entwined around the stick pin, 18ct yellow gold, circa 1880, the jewelled part measuring approximately 32 x 15mm, the pin measuring 8cm long, gross weight 6.1 grams.
A handsome stick pin. Made in the late nineteenth century, this stick pin features a detailed serpent coiling around the top of the pin. Set within the serpent’s head is a deep blue faceted sapphire, and the eyes of the serpent are two glinting rubies. Serpents were highly symbolic during the Victorian era, often symbolising everlasting love and fidelity.
