A Victorian Garnet, Diamond And Green Enamel Brooch

A Victorian garnet, diamond and green enamel brooch pendant, the central oval cabochon garnet, estimated to weigh 40 carats, surrounded by green enamel with four old brilliant-cut diamond-set gold leaves to each side, suspending from the centre an oval cabochon garnet estimated to weigh 23 carats with old brilliant-cut diamond-set leaves to top and bottom, two diamond-set and enamel foliate drops to each side, diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 6 carats, all mounted in yellow gold, circa 1850, measuring approximately 9.6 x 5.7cm, gross weight 52.7 grams.

A fabulous mid-nineteenth century devant de corsage that can be worn as a pendant or a brooch. The naturalistic design resembles a green vine from which stem diamond-studded ivy, encasing remarkable vivid and vibrant garnets. The motifs and exquisite craftsmanship make this an excellent example of high Victorian craftsmanship.
