A gold oval pendant-necklace by Akelo, the central flower design rendered using granulation and filigree, the background embellished with granulation clusters and filigree circles, to a twisted wire work border, with a gold pendant loop, suspended by a single loop-in-loop wire-link chain, to an S-shaped clasp, all in yellow gold, hallmarked 18ct gold, London 2011, made by Andrea Cagnetti the Roman master goldsmith known as Akelo, the pendant measuring approximately 3.5 x 3.6cm, the chain measuring approximately 44.5cm long, gross weight 20.5 grams.

This piece, named Alzirr by the master goldsmith from Rome Andrea Cagnetti, known as Akelo, uses techniques and tools that have been practised in goldsmithing for thousands of years. Drawing inspiration from Etruscan, Greek, and Roman jewellery, Akelo’s designs are imbued with both antiquity and modernity. Akelo’s work can be seen in the museum collections of The Vatican, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, The Newark Museum, and others.
