An Edwardian Tourmaline And Pearl Bee Brooch

An Edwardian tourmaline and pearl bee brooch, with faceted tourmaline set thorax and abdomen and seed pearl-set wings, the eyes set with rubies, all to a yellow gold mount and carved gold legs, marked 15ct gold, circa 1900, measuring approximately 2.4×5.3cm, gross weight 8.3 grams.

A lovely and naturalistic brooch in the shape of a detailed, gemset bee. This piece was made at the beginning of the 20th century and captures the elegant, nature inspired style of the period. The bee has a body set with vibrant green tourmaline, with yellow gold wings set with lustrous pearls. The eyes of the bee are glinting rubies, and the details of the legs have been delicately carved from yellow gold. This exquisite piece would be a perfect accessory for a formal summer occasion.
