A Diamond And Cultured Pearl Choker Necklace

A diamond and cultured pearl necklace, the fine Victorian diamond centrepiece, centrally set with an old brilliant-cut diamond estimated to weigh 1.65 carats surrounded by old-cut diamond cluster surrounded by eight larger old brilliant-cut diamonds with diamonds-set points between each, estimated to weigh a further total of 6 carats, all cut-down set in silver to yellow gold mount, circa 1860, strung with four rows of cultured pearls and a diamond-set rectangular snap clasp, accompanied by detachable brooch fitting and diamond-set pendant loop, the centrepiece measuring approximately 2.6cm in diameter, the necklace measuring approximately 32.5cm long, gross weight 94.4 grams.

A stunning Victorian brooch and pendant set to a cultured pearl necklace. The four strands of beautifully matched pearls are choker length, sitting elegantly on the neck. The centre of the strands of pearls is a magnificent diamond piece that can be worn as either a brooch or a pendant. It features an impressive, dazzling central diamond and is surrounded by a star shaped cluster of further lively diamonds. This gorgeous piece is reminiscent of the pearl and diamond chokers that became popular in the second half of the nineteenth century due to Princess Alexandra of Wales’ fondness for the style.
