A Victorian Ruby, Diamond And Crystal Pendant
A Victorian ruby, diamond and crystal pendant, the cabochon-cut rock crystal with a star to the centre, set with nine diamonds old European and rose-cut diamonds and four oval faceted rubies, to a border consisted of fourteen faceted rubies alternating with fourteen old-cut diamonds, suspended from a ruby and diamond-set loop, the rubies estimated to weigh 3.5 carats, the diamonds estimated to weigh 1 carat, all set in yellow gold mount, with locket compartment at the back, circa 1890, measuring approximately 4.1 x 2.6cm, gross weight 15.8 grams.
This is a gorgeous Victorian pendant, made in around 1890. A central domed crystal is set with wonderfully vivid rubies and glittering diamonds. Ornate and regal, this alluring piece would look fabulous on a gold Victorian chain or hung from a velvet ribbon.
