A Late Victorian Amethyst Necklace & Earrings
A late Victorian amethyst necklace and earrings, the necklace consisting of thirty-nine oval faceted amethyst, all set in cut-down collets, suspending five pear-shaped briolette-cut amethyst drops each with diamond-set cap of foliate design, all mounted in silver to yellow gold back, accompanied by matching drop earrings with gold wire fittings, circa 1880, the necklace measuring approximately 42 x 3.8cm, the earrings measuring approximately 3.7 x 1.3cm, gross weight 54 grams. A Victorian amethyst necklace and earrings are in very good condition. Unmarked tested as silver and 9ct gold, the clasp and hooks as 18ct gold.
