An Edwardian Diamond Necklace

An Edwardian diamond necklace, the centre a diamond-set bow with diamond-set scroll, flower and foliate detail either side, suspending a garland of flowers and leaves surrounding an old round brilliant-cut diamond, all millegrain set, attached either side by fine bar links set between round brilliant-cut diamonds to a bow clasp, estimated total diamond weight 4 carats all mounted in platinum, circa 1905, measuring 21.5cm long, gross weight 22 grams.

This exquisite necklace exemplifies Edwardian style. This piece features a centrepiece of delicate openwork floral and foliate motifs set throughout with glittering diamonds. In the centre is a diamond set bow from which is suspended further foliate links and scintillating diamonds. Edwardian jewellery is characterized by the use of platinum to form delicate and feminine shapes set with diamonds, and this piece is a perfect example of this craftsmanship. This beautiful necklace would look stunning with an evening dress or even a bridal gown.
