More informationAn Important Renaissance Revival cruciform pendant and chain, the central red, green and white guilloche enamel Maltese cross quartered with floral designs, to hexagonal-shaped arms divided by lines of pellets which are joined with strips of polychrome enamel lozenges, terminating to fine gold-beaded finials, suspended by a polychrome enamel loop, the gold chain formed of three repeated designs, armillary spheres with white and black enamel zodiac bands, symbolising scholarship and knowledge, three-sided polychrome enamel links in the form of an axe and longer triangular form links with beaded decoration and enamel lozenges, total length of the chain approximately 84cm, bearing Ram’s head control marks to the cross and chain, France, circa 1870s.
