A Georgian Diamond Feather Brooch
A Georgian diamond-set brooch in the form of a curved feather, set with hundred and six old-cut diamonds, estimated to weigh a total of 3 carats, all mounted in silver to a close back mount, with a rose gold brooch fitting, and later yellow gold roll catch, bearing later French import mark for silver and gold circa 1780, measuring approximately 61 x 22mm, gross weight 11.7 grams.
A gorgeous Georgian-era feather brooch. During the period, it became fashionable for women to adorn their elaborate hairstyles with ostrich feathers, a style which transformed into the wearing of diamond-set feathers that could be worn in the hair as well as pinned to evening gowns. This spectacular piece features an array of old-cut diamonds which catch the light beautifully, arranged in the form of a curved feather. This piece would be a lovely addition to a jacket lapel or to an evening gown for a more formal look.
