A handsome set of four George III silver wine coasters. Wine coasters became widely used in the late eighteenth century and were used to hold decanters and bottles of wine. The sides of these wine coasters are decorated with ornate embossed floral and scroll motifs. This design carries to the detailed rim of the coaster, adding further detail. The base of the coaster is turned wood with a smooth central silver boss. This set of wine coasters is a perfect addition to a dinner party for holding decanters or bottles of wine.
