This exceptional ring was made by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, a widely recognized master in the art of jewellery and particularly enamelwork. This magnificent and sculptural piece is designed to look like an ear of wheat carved from 18 carat gold, which is delicately detailed and naturalistic. Atop the wheat is a mounted glowing cabochon opal and a finely detailed enamel grasshopper. The green colour of the grasshopper’s body echoes the shades of green in the opal, and great attention has been paid to make the insect look incredibly lifelike. This elegant piece draws inspiration from Art Nouveau jewellery of the early twentieth century, when jewellery styles sought to imitate delicate and graceful natural elements such as flowers and insects. This piece reflects Ilgiz F.’s stylistic inspirations as well as his superb talent and skill in crafting unique and stunning pieces of wearable art. Ilgiz Fazulzyanov has twice been awarded the grand prize at the International Jewellery Design Excellence Awards, and his work is held in the collection of world-renowned museums including the Kremlin Museum in Moscow.
