A pair of blue poppies cufflinks by Ilgiz F, each cufflink with three poppies with champlevé enamelled petals and black enamelled peduncles, on a diamond pave-set background of round shape, all mounted in 18ct gold with diamond-set swivel fittings, each with a cabochon sapphire, the diamonds weighing 2.91 carats in totatl and the total sapphire weight is 0.36 carats, made by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, hallmarked 18ct gold, London 2019, measuring approximately 1.7cm, gross weight 20.5 grams.
This fine pair of cufflinks were made by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, a widely recognized master in the art of jewellery and particularly enamelwork. These cufflinks draw inspiration from Art Deco design, with the geometric design of striking blue poppies. The Himalayan blue poppy is native to China, Bhutan, and Tibet, and Ilgiz F. draws inspiration from these flowers and the Art Deco designs of the 1920s. The enamelwork is exquisite and detailed, and the black wonderfully contrasts with the diamonds and blue enamel. Ilgiz Fazulzyanov has twice been awarded the grand prize at the International Jewellery Design Excellence Awards, and his work is held in the collection of world-renowned museums including the Kremlin Museum in Moscow.
