A pair of tulip earrings by Ilgiz F, each earring with an octagonal shape plaque with transparent turquoise and translucent white enamelled tulip, surrounded by dark blue enamelled frame with diamond-set top, the diamonds weighing 0.08 carats in total, all suspended by a blue enamelled hoop, mounted in white gold with post and scroll fitting,from the Samarkand collection of Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, measuring approximately 2.9 x 1.5cm, gross weight 7.7 grams

This enchanting pair of earrings were made by Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, a widely recognized master in the art of jewellery and particularly enamelwork. These earrings are from the Samarkand collection of Ilgiz F., named after the city in Uzbekistan that was founded between the 8th and 7th centuries BC. The architecture of the city features many exquisite and impressive early Islamic buildings, and the inspiration of this early Islamic style can be seen in these earrings. Each earring features a white octagonal plaque with a turquoise-coloured enamel tulip design. Cultivation of the tulip began in the Persian empire. The fine enamel work of these earrings exemplify Ilgiz F.’s skill, while the design reflects his heritage and stylistic inspirations. Ilgiz Fazulzyanov has twice been awarded the grand prize at the International Jewellery Design Excellence Awards, and his work is held in the collection of world-renowned museums including the Kremlin Museum in Moscow.
