A Pair Of Jade And Diamond Drop Earrings

A pair of jade and diamond drop earrings, each earring with a circular jade disc with diameter 1.6 cm, accompanied by GCS Report 80261-09 stating to be natural with no indications of impregnation, each suspended by an articulated line of six old European-cut diamonds set in platinum and gold, the diamonds estimated to weigh 0.85carats in total, to post and scroll fittings, circa 1930, measuring approximately 3.8cm long, gross weight 5.4 grams.

A fabulous pair of earrings. Jade was a popular stone during the inter-war period, and these earrings are an excellent example of the use of jade in Art Deco styles. Art Deco jewellery is characterized not only by geometric forms, but also by the combination of platinum, diamond, and coloured stones. Jade has been regarded for thousands of years as a romantic and healing stone. These are wonderfully colourful and sparkly earrings.
