A wonderful little dolphin stick pin, made in the late nineteenth century. The dolphin motif featured on this stick pin is reminiscent of the dolphin motif featured in French and Italian renaissance and baroque interior design as well as architecture, which, in turn, was inspired by dolphin motifs from Ancient Rome. This charming creature has a glinting ruby eye and detailed scales and would make an elegant and sculptural addition to a twill suit.
